Dr oz Lemon and Aspirin mask
Homemade Asprin Facial Mask
As I was looking at beauty tricks online I can across Dr Oz recommended Lemon and Aspirin mask. I first ran to my fridge to see if I had a lemon in their and then to my medicine cabinet to see if I had uncoated aspirins...just my luck I had the lemon but not the uncoated aspirins, but i figured I would still give it a shot.

Supposedly the asiprin mask works like a chemical peal with the salicylic acid in the aspirin and is great for clearing up complexion. The vitamin C in the lemon is good for sun damage...Not sure i buy that but it was worth a shot
What you need:
- Aspirin
- Lemon
- Baking Soda
- Water
- Cotton pads or wash cloth
How to Make an Asprin Face Mask
This was very easy to throw together and I was actually surprised that it worked so well. If I had used uncoated aspirins it would have worked better, it was really chunky because of the coating.
- Mash up 6-12 asprins. I put them on a napkin and folded it over. I crushed them with the backside of the spoon. That way when you are done you can easily pour it into the bowl. Mash them up until it is a powder
- Add a little fresh lemon juice, add a little at a time and mix. Once its a nice light paste let it sit for 10 minutes to thicken up
- Use the cotton pads to spread the mask on. Make sure you are over a sink because it can be messy...at least mine was but that could be due to the wrong aspirin.
- Let the mask sit for about 10-15 minutes, it might sting a little because of the acid.
- Use more cotton pads with baking soda and water. My instructions said to dip it in the soda first than the water but that didn't work so I mixed up some baking soda water and put it on a wash cloth to rinse off the mask and then used a gentle soap to wash my face. The baking soda neutralizes the acid so it does not continue to work on your face if you missed some.
Final Thoughts
I did enjoy this mask and feel that I saw results. It did tingle a little so I assume I was getting the benefits of a natural chemical peel. I had a hard time using the pad and baking soda to rinse off the mask so the baking soda water on a washcloth worked much better. I would do this no more than once a week and have it be at least 3 or 4 days away from any other harsh skin treatment to avoid overworking your skin!
